Software maintenance · modernization · consultancy

Versas maintains, modernizes and extends the software your business already runs.

Ongoing maintenance and support, upgrades, feature development on existing systems, cloud migration in both directions, and backup & disaster recovery. Versas works long-term: understanding the system and the need first, then helping where it actually matters.

01 — Services

What versas can do for you.

Six areas of work, all centered on systems that already exist and need to keep running.

Maintenance & support

Takeover and care of existing systems, including orphaned codebases: fixes, patches and agreed response times.

Modernization & upgrades

Framework, runtime and database upgrades in increments, while the system keeps running.

Feature additions & extensions

New features, integrations and automation built on the system you already own.

Cloud migration, in both directions

Into the cloud, or back on-prem when costs or requirements say so.

Backup & disaster recovery

Strategy and implementation, with defined recovery objectives and tested restores.

Consultancy & audits

Independent review of code, architecture and infrastructure, reported in plain language.

outside the core six

Not sure what to build? Prototype it first.

Sometimes the ask is genuinely new: a product idea, a possible rewrite, an integration nobody can vouch for. For those, versas builds a working prototype first, narrow in scope but real enough to click through and show around. If it holds up, it becomes the foundation of the real build. If it doesn't, you found out cheaply.

02 — How versas engages

The working relationship comes first.

Versas has worked this way since 2014, with large multinational companies, small and medium businesses, and startups both early and late stage. Maintenance and modernization only work over time, with trust, so the way versas works is built around three things:

Build the relationship

Versas aims to be the team you still call years from now. Knowing a system, and the people who depend on it, is most of the value versas brings.

Understand the need

No estimates or proposals before seeing the system and understanding what's actually needed, which is not always what was first asked for.

Help, plainly

Advice in plain language, honest about trade-offs, including when the right answer is to do less, or nothing at all.

03 — Existing systems

Versas mostly works on systems somebody else built.

Full rewrites are expensive and fail often. The default is to keep the system you have running, understand it properly, and improve it in steps. If any of these sound familiar, that's the kind of work versas does.

"The developer who built it left years ago."
"Nobody dares to deploy on a Friday."
"Upgrading feels riskier than doing nothing."
"We have plans for it, but no one to make them happen."
04 — Engagement

Three ways to work with versas.

Whatever the structure, the aim is the same: a long-term working relationship with people who know your systems.

Monthly retainer

Predictable ongoing maintenance, support and improvements. Your system, permanently cared for.

Fixed-scope project

A defined outcome, price and date: an upgrade, a migration, a DR implementation, an audit.

Team extension

Additional senior engineering capacity working inside your team, your codebase and your processes.

05 — Technologies

Some of what versas works with.

Not a complete list, just what comes up most often. Modern where it helps, and patient with what's already there.

06 — Contact

Tell versas about the work you need.

Describe the system and the work required; a few details are enough to start. Versas reads it, asks questions, and tells you plainly whether and how it can help. Sometimes the honest answer is that you don't need help yet.
